Jordi Alba announces his retirement from professional football
The decorated Spanish defender joined Valencia CF at the age of 18, the Club where he grew and was given the opportunity to make his LALIGA debut
The Mestalla crowd knows how to pay tribute to their legends David Villa experienced it in person last Saturday. The Asturian received a well-deserved and heartfelt tribute where both the club and the fanbase showed him a great rapport and affection. First on Avenida de Suecia with over 15,000 gathered outside Mestalla and later on, chanting his name as he took it to the pitch: “Illa, illa, illa, Villa maravilla”.
The night kicked off when David Villa walked out onto the balcony with over 15,000 waiting for him after welcoming the team bus, they chanted his name as he unveiled his canvas which will shine bright alonsgside the rest club legends.
David Villa dedicated a few words to the Valencia CF fans being deeply touched by the affection shown by the fanbase gathered outside Mestalla.
Later on, a private event took place at the VIP box of Mestalla with our president, Layhoon Chan, highlighted David Villa’s figure and his significance in the club’s history books. Furthermore, the club had a gesture with the former player’s children gifting them a shirt with the number 7 and his name printed on the back of the shirt.
Besides, David Villa was also involved in the recognition to our captain José Luis Gayà who was presented with a commemorative shirt after reaching 300 official appearances as a valencianista.
